Two Eagles

These two Bald Eagles flew into the tree across the road from us and sat like this for 15 minutes.

Thursday, 29 January 2009, around 11:00 AM.

And here's another view of them.

We live along the Potomac River in Northumberland County, VA, where the Potomac joins the Chesapeake Bay.  When we stand on our front porch, we look straight ahead onto the Potomac -- it's six miles wide at this point -- and if we turn to the right, we see the Bay.  Eagles are year-round residents here and 3 - 4 pair nest in the tall pine trees at either end of our road and around our creek.  We frequently see them flying along the river, following the shoreline, looking for dead fish.  This is the first time we have seen eagles sitting in the tree across the road just watching the world go by.
