More APRS
Screen Shots
You should have come to this page from the page describing APRS -- Amateur Position
Reporting System. If you have not read that article, here
is a link to it.
The photos below are shots made with a digital camera of the screen on a notebook
computer that runs APRS 24/7 from Bristol, TN. The three shots are taken at
different zoom levels -- zoomed close in showing neighboring states; zoomed medium showing
the east coast; and a far out zoom showing most of the US. The photos are a bit dark
-- I am still learning how to use the digital camera.

Close-in zoom. This photo shows APRS stations in VA-KY-TN-WV-NC. The blue
lines on the map are state lines. The map is centered on the corner where NE TN-SW
VA-NW NC join. You can see the state line between VA and KY and VA and WV angling up
to the right starting just above the KC4YDQ-7 symbol. The TN state line runs
straight left to right across the middle of the screen.

This one zooms out to show most of the East Coast and the SE -- note that many states
show up clearly in outline.

This shot zooms farther out, showing well into the west. Note the bottom symbol
-- an Apple computer symbol with the call sign K4HG-5 -- he is on the tip of Florida.
The truck symbol just above K4HG-5 is KC4PZL-14, an eighteen-wheeler who shows up
from time to time.
