I am a populist and liberal and have not voted for a Republican since the one time I voted for Richard Nixon ... I should have known better.  And if the Democrats don't restore their souls soon, I will not vote for another Democrat, either. 

For what little it's worth, here is my view of the current state of our politics:

• Both major parties are under control by the most radical, far-out elements of each party:
  • The Republican Party is under the control of the most reactionary radicals this nation has ever seen -- religious zealots, bigots, corporate robber barons, you name it;
  • The Democrats, meanwhile, can't make a move without the approval of left-wing dingbats and have abrogated their historic dedication to working people;
• The growing control of every aspect of our lives by corporations that answer to no one;
• "Economic globalization" that does nothing but corporatize profit and socialize misery; and,
• The fact that both political parties are now nothing but an extension of corporate America.

I don't want a third party in American politics -- I want a second party.

The administration of "President" George W. Bush is mounting an all-out attack on civil liberties, individual rights, labor and environmental law, and individual freedom unlike any such attack ever before seen in America. Operating since September 11, 2001, under the guise of "national security," Attorney General John Ashcroft -- in league with the most backward, reactionary forces in this nation -- seeks to roll back our freedoms to somewhere before the 19th century.

• No Place to Live.  As of November 2002, there is not a single jurisdiction in the entire United States where an individual, working full time at minimum wage, can afford the fair market rent on a 2-bedroom single-family home.   Does this fact make you proud to be an American?

A Challenge to John Ashcroft

I will write articles pointing out the attacks by Ashcroft and the Bush junta on our liberty -- I only hope I have enough web storage space to hold them all -- links will be posted here.

I DEFY John Ashcroft, the FBI, or any other federal "law enforcement agency" to visit me as a result of my exercise of my free speech rights.  And to start with, Mr. Ashcroft, you need to know that I own: (1) a firearm; (2) a copy of The Anarchist's Cookbook; and, (3) a book on the history of Islam.  So, come get me -- I'm one dangerous man.
