Ramp
Page 2
After the second day of work on the ramp -- set a 2X4 border under the
landing; dug out sod underneath the landing, spread
landscape cloth, put in five wheelbarrow loads of gravel.
Bolted the rim joists to the corner posts with two 1/2-inch bolts at each end of
the rim joists; used washers and nylon lock nuts on the bolts. Countersunk
the bolt heads so I can wrap the rim joists with trim.

Check out this photo taken from the lawn looking toward the house.

The tall 4X4 posts mark the corners of the landing. They are aligned
with the 4X4 posts on the landing that is attached to the screen porch.
Now, check out this picture. This is the side of the lawn landing where
the walkway from the house will terminate. Disregard the short 4X4 posts
leaning against the front of the landing framework -- those were a design idea
that did not work out.

Finally, check out this one.

One part of the ramp will run from the screen porch landing to the landing in
the lawn -- the one I'm building. The next section of the ramp will run
from the lawn landing to the sidewalk. Because we don't want the ramp to
stick out onto the sidewalk, we need to pour a small concrete pad adjoining the
sidewalk -- the orange flags outline where the pad will be.
Next steps:
- Remove sod from the area that will be under the ramp and from the area of the pad.
- Set the form for the pad.
- Dig post holes about where the stakes are.
- Put in rebar.
- Pour concrete.
