This photo was taken along Highway 15, north of Hazard, KY, headed toward Breathitt County and Jackson.  The redbud trees line the roadsides throughout Central Appalachia and they fairly blaze with color in the spring.  The water in the background, in spite of its sparkle, is polluted with run-off from a local strip mine.
